Using the racecard

Which races are on the racecard?
UK and Irish races. Races outside those countries, including France, are not added to the card. Declarations can change. A horse can be withdrawn, and the going can change. Treat the card as the latest information we have, not as a card that can never move.
What is RFMS?
RFMS is the Recent Form and Market Expectation Score. It ranks every declared runner from recent form and the market's earlier reading of the horse. The racecard is listed in that order. If a horse has no score because it has not run, the breeding section may be more useful. RFMS is explained further in In Detail.
What is RSPD?
RSPD is a separate speed ranking. It does not feed into RFMS. A horse can be high on speed and lower on RFMS, and you can look at each figure. Historical backtesting showed that combining speed and form at Rank 1 can reach nearly 30 percent winners over a year. That is a past result, not a forecast. The In Detail chapter on RSPD shows the worked example.
How is the racecard ordered?
By RFMS rank, with Rank 1 first. The card also shows form, age, weight, draw, jockey, trainer and the official rating where we have them, and RSPD where it is available. The silks are shown as an image where we have one. The cloth number, horse and owner stay as text.
What is the Win and Place view?
Historical win and place percentages for a rank, over a period you can choose up to your package limit. You can look at RFMS, RSPD, or the two together where your package includes that view. Filters such as course and distance depend on the package. A shorter sample can make a percentage swing around. The figures describe the past. They are not an instruction to bet.
How do I compare horses?
Choose at least two horses. Bronze compares up to 2, Silver up to 3, Gold up to 4 and Diamond up to 5. Where the comparison is looking at the horse's own runs, it uses the last 5 matching runs. Jockey or trainer, without the horse, uses the last 4 weeks and does not include the race in front of you.
What recent form can I see?
Bronze shows the last 2 runs. Silver shows the last 3, with won by and beaten by, and early pace on that horse's form. Gold shows the last 5, including how many opponents were beaten, early pace and finishing style, and the race comment in plain English. Silver's race comments stay in abbreviations. Diamond can use the last 5 runs, or the 5 most recent runs that match the conditions you choose.
What can I look up for a jockey or trainer?
From Silver, jockey or trainer over the last 4 weeks, not including this race. Gold adds jockey and trainer together, and daily jockey and trainer tracking. Diamond adds jockey, trainer and horse together. Gold names the sire, dam and damsire. Diamond adds the offspring research.
What does the Bet Tracker do?
It is your own record. From the racecard you can record a win bet with a stake in pounds and decimal odds, or SP. It shows what you entered, and a profit and loss from those entries once a result is known. It does not place the bet. Check the real balance with your bookmaker or exchange. It is included in every package, and it opens while an HRBC subscription is active.
What are bookmarks and the notebook?
Bookmarks save a horse or a whole race, with a note and a rating you choose: Strong, Medium, Weak or Avoid. Those ratings are yours. The notebook is chapters and pages for research you want to keep. They belong to the signed-in account. They are included in every package, and they open while an HRBC subscription is active. They are a convenience, not the only copy you should keep of something you cannot afford to lose.
